Walking in my childhood neighborhood with two of my children today, I came upon the stump of an old tree. I remember this tree, so big, so full of shade, a long time friend.
As we crossed the street to count its rings, we came upon a few notes left to the tree by neighborhood children. It is worth sharing their gratitude for such a silent but significant friend.
Goodbye old friend.
Thank you.
You were a good tree.
Always sad to see a piece of nature go...but nice to see that compassion is still around.
ReplyDeletewe lost the big maple in our front yard not long ago. It still looks naked.
