just like play: marking time in a perfect way

Ever since I was a child, I've collected small little treasures--from the sea, from trees, from vines. My activity of collecting has changed as I've grown. I still collect a pocketful of conkers/buckeyes every Autumn, but more and more I've turned toward collecting different things--stories, ideas, small moments of meaning. My eyes are more open to catching beauty and my ears more open to collecting wisdom. I just wish my pockets were big enough to hold it all.

I have a full and busy life, but in between all the encouraging, the feeding, the exploring, the negotiating, and the listening that comes with the landscape of mothering and home educating four children, I collect.

This is the space where I try to make sense of my daily inner (and outer) walk.
