blue

Here is the finished quilt.  I sent it off last week to have it quilted by a lovely woman (Sue Roberts) in Banchory, Scotland and received it today. With the help of Margaret Owen and the same machine used to finish a quilt my mother and I made a few years ago for my daughter, another set of threads are woven together.  I like the idea that there is a small history to the two quilts I've made--same women, same sewn pattern, same machine--a small community sharing the sacred space of creativity.  And now with my new daughter exploring its colors and shapes, new threads are passed to the next generation.

Blue it is. A watery, wavy blue. Just like the sea.

  1. It's beautiful Nicki. It's stunning against the North Sea light and accentuated by that little nugget of love crawling on it.

  2. Wow, it's lovely, particularly knowing it's story. I especially like the middle photo, that little hand claiming her place in the lineup of generations involved in the creation of the quilt. xx

  3. Well done! It is lovely and I love the blues of the sea. And, even as I glory in the mountains, I am missing the sea!

  4. oh nicki, it is absolutely beautiful as is Vivienne Luna! it is so wonderful to have it's story woven together lovingly so that it is told in a soft whisper every time one cuddles with the blanket.
